How extreme is this?

Ian Usher a man from Perth, Australia is putting his life up for auction. Yes, his life. Including:

  • Cars
  • Toys (motorcycle, jet ski)
  • House
  • Friends
  • Even his job

This has to be the most ingenious idea I have ever seen (aside from my own crazy delusions) and I wish Ian the best. Personally I have had some ideas that my wife and family have thought so absurd that they really thought I would be living surrounded by padded walls by years end. Usually my woes were not love related but more economic and world dispair type junk….in other words crazy talk (I have a post that I have ready to go describing such a plan but will hold off for a bit as I don’t want to sound like a loon).

How does someone that seems so happy from the outside (read his site, incredible amount of work and time went in to it) get to a point that he or she wants to “Sell their Life”? For most Americans I think the idea would be frightening to say the least as I feel we have lost our sense of adventure as a whole. Bottom line Ian is an explorer, a man with a mission and above all a genius.

Who is to say this is right or wrong? Who is to say this isn’t EXACTLY the right thing to do when you are ready for a change? Maybe I am cut from a different bolt of cloth than most but this just looks and feels like something that all of us can explore if the situation calls for it. The price of happiness (and sadness) cannot be measured or quantified (in real word terms and meanings, I firmly believe this) and for each individual it is an experience that is unique to them.

To Ian, I admire your thought process and courage. You will find what you are looking for as you have the desire and creativity to do so. You are a trailblazer, a pioneer paving the way of cerebral exercise that most can only dream of. Don’t loose sight and may warm sun and happiness guide you to what you find most important in life.

You sir are a hero.

*I have sent correspondence to Ian in hopes of getting some images as well as some more information regarding his decision. I will post an update post as well as edit this one once I gain more information.

I agree that this is a brilliant idea. We as a people need to look deep and determine what is most important to each of us, then act. With how fast our lives go by (probably by design) we often loose touch with what is important in life. I wish Ian the best as well.
