How many war protests make the airwaves in the U.S.? How many of those that do make the airwaves have teeth and are not just “young hipsters” (not my quote) causing trouble? Yesterday marked an important shifting point in our country and yet no major media outlets covered it….why? Let’s take a minute to reflect on yesterday’s events as it was May day/Law day (LOL!).

The ILWU and it’s 25,000 + members chose this day to stage a complete work stoppage in 29 west coast ports. “Longshore workers are standing-down on the job and standing up for America,” said ILWU International President Bob McEllrath. “We’re supporting the troops and telling politicians in Washington that it’s time to end the war in Iraq.”

McEllrath says rank-and-file members made their own democratic decision in early February when Longshore Caucus delegates voted to take action on May 1. Employers were notified of the plan, but refused to accommodate the union’s request despite plenty of advance notice. The employer group, represented by the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) consists of large carriers and port operators, most of which are foreign-owned. ~~~no wonder they didn’t approve of the work stoppage, they are too busy figuring out how to ship more full containers of “goods” in to our country and wondering what the hell to do with all the empty containers once they are unloaded as god knows we don’t produce shit in this country anymore.

Anyone out there see the show called America’s Port on the National Geographic channel? If you haven’t seen it just watch one episode and it will scare the bejesus out of you. Whenever they talk about a deadline they seem to always drive the point home that “Consumers need these goods and the retailers are relying on them for the holiday season.” Hmm, really? What is even more funny is when they try to gloss over the fact that it takes them days, yes days to unload a single ship but it is loaded in mere hours…..we don’t produce much in this country anymore….can anyone say NAFTA or GATT? N-A-F-T-A, G-A-T-T…..hmm easy.

I have a friend that is a longshoreman in CA. and he is currently looking for new work, not that he doesn’t have job security but because he feels he is helping to destroy this country. I talked with him when the show America’s Port premiered on the tube….He says that it is much worse than they portray. Workers are angry, tired of unloading foreign crap and depressed as no Made in the U.S.A. goods are being loaded. He as well as a lot of his co-workers are flat fed up and by the looks of it most longshoreman are. He was telling me during a Christmas phone call in 2005 that he and his crew worked 6 straight weeks on one client alone, the one time in recent years he can remember loading ships rather than unloading them. Any guesses on whom the client was? < insert jeopardy music here >

Let’s spend 20 seconds on our beloved leader WARLORD and his statement he made for Law Day. (I think most people are aware of what May Day stands for but do you have any idea what Law Day represents? Check it out, you may be surprised, or not)

Well, most seem like legitimate reasons for food prices to go up and supplies to be limited but lets dig a bit deeper. If micro/macro economics taught me anything it is that supply and demand has the biggest cause and effect on the prices of goods.

I have a simple solution to food/energy costs: Require the people that buy commodities to actually have to take possession of what they purchase. You want to buy 10 barrels of oil at 110.00 a barrel fine, when can you pick it up?

This would immediately end all of the “jump on the bandwagon” investors as well as the price fixing and hording. Yes, I know it is not the perfect solution but it is a start. /end rant

With a global recession coupled with the “false hopes” of ethanol and rising gas prices it was just a matter of time before it his us here in the states. The real question is not whether we have or will have a serious food crisis but when and where will it take place. Wal-Mart is doing it’s best to speed the process along by “rationing” rice sales to 4 bags. What the news media isn’t telling you is that the 4 bags that you are limited to are 20 lb. bags and that the biggest consumers of the rice are small restaurants that can get it there cheaper than they can from Sysco or any other food distributor.

The media and Wal-Mart want you to believe that there is a shortage of rice here in the U.S. so that you run out when you get off work and buy, buy, buy. If Wal-Mart really was concerned about rice supplies then they would not be announcing it and leaving out important facts like the limit is 4 bags=80 lbs of rice. They are perpetuating a false supply/demand issue strictly for the sake of profit and not for the sake of ensuring food supplies will be available to everyone.

So what is the real deal with all of this? Yes, food shortages are a concern around the world but not here in the U.S. as well as most industrialized countries. This does not mean we shouldn’t be concerned or try to make changes in the way we think.

Concerns:

Meat products take 14 times as much grain to produce as vegetable products do as well as an average of 150 gallons of fossil fuel per year per person. This does not take in to consideration the amount of water and chemicals (antibiotics, de-wormers, growth hormones) that meat products take to produce. So, what can we do to change this?

Purchase more products that are produced locally. Check farmers markets and co-op’s for locally produced goods that do not need to be shipped long distances. Always buy vegetables and fruits that are fresh according to the local season and TRY to substitute some meat products with legumes and other forms of protein.

Grow your own! My wife and I produce about 85% of our produce and we have no yard as we live in a loft in a warehouse. Sprouts are a great source of protein and contain all of the essential vitamins and minerals you need to live a healthy life.

Reduce the fossil fuels that you consume. I know this is a tough one but it has a DIRECT effect on the cost of the goods we buy. Take public transportation, hop on a bike for your shopping and most importantly plan your trips when you do have to drive. We had 4 vehicles this time last year, now we have 1 and put less than 50 miles a month on it. This has been difficult for us but less that 1 year later our lives have not changed that much and we have shaved $250.00 a month in fuel, maintenance and insurance.

Fun Fact: If the world were to have the eating habits that the U.S. does fossil fuels around the world would be exhausted in 10 years.

I am not bashing Hillary people, all 3 canidates are up there. The reason Hillary is in the middle is because she is the one that set policy for a lot of what is going on today at Wally World. All 3 of the canidates need to address this and many other issues that they feel aren’t important, I think the question and answers given during recent debates should sum up what I am trying to say. Has our government lost their fucken minds? Have they not seen the torture pictures, videos of soldiers torturing animals or the senseless violence that our current soldiers are committing? Is the violence level not enough or is it that a lot of the current soldiers are refusing to take part in some of the sinister orders you are giving?

Seems that most felonies are not an issue when it comes to recruiting and with the Army and Marines wanting to recruit 80,000 new soldiers this year they have allowed more crimes to be waived. Assault, robbery and theft, drug possession and terrorist threats are now allowed by our military. Good game, seems we are gearing up for more war, wake up people!

Our Lame duck president Our mindless twit is trying his hardest to push through the legislation that will cement him in history as the destructor of 3 great nations. I find this humorous and horrifying at the same time, if that is possible, about the possibility of merging nations. Don’t get me wrong, I love our neighbors to the north and I have family that have retired in Mexico as well as my younger brother. Merging the three nations would do a dis-service to all that live in these great once great countries.

Why is this needed? Why do we need the Amero? Why will this help to further enhance our lives and prosperity? Why is this being done behind closed doors under the guise of “free trade”? It is simple really, if this was carried out in the light and not under the cover of darkness there would be rioting in the streets and a police state would surely follow. This has been in the works for years and is not going to go away with a new president nor a new congress. Lets take a look at a few questions that should be answered….by whom I have no clue but lets ask anyway:

• What the hell is the SPP and why the hell do we need it?
• Why has every “summit” involving these nations has been held in private if its really about trade?
• Why has the current administration talked tough about immigration yet continues to open our borders?
• What good can a North American Union do for the citizens (not the corporations)?
• Why is Bush strong arming congress on the Columbian Trade deal?
• Why should we accept any type of “free trade deal” when all it does is export OUR jobs?

Reports from family in Mexico tells me that road construction (highways) from the Port of Guadalajara heading north are being constructed at a furious pace. Want to know the worst part about it? YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE PAYING FOR IT!

This is nothing new, land has already been taken from families in Texas and Mexico for the “NAFTA Super Highway” and will continue until someone puts an end to all of this madness. Here is some shocking information that is “conveniently” left out of nightly news reports, take a look, get mad, make a difference!

• Kansas City SmartPort (Mexican owned and controlled land in the U.S. heartland!)
• Spanish Company Cintra using loans from U.S. to build U.S. Toll roads LOL!

Cintra somehow got a no-bid contract for the job of taxing roads we have already paid for with our tax dollars and now we are having to give them more money to build more roads in Mexico? Look in to Cintra and you will find some interesting facts about them….like they are owned by old world land owners and rich merchants….the same ones that sent “explorers” to the “new world” hundreds of years ago to rape and pillage the America’s. Guess they finally got their hooks in us deep enough, soon we will be paying taxes to the same group of people that forced our founding fathers/mothers to flee in the first place.

• Take the same passion that you have for faith and apply it to your country
• Realize that “your” religion is no better than any other (or none)

I won’t address this issue again as honestly I could care less, it’s not about “my god” or “your god” as my god (me, myself and my wife) is what runs and rules the decisions I make and I respect all that do the same. I have never criticized the church or religion specifically but I do criticize the establishment and the people that are pulling the strings.

The death threats, phone calls, emails, comments and the mystery package were all nice thoughts and I appreciate the wholesome loving attention that all of you have showered me with but alas the time has come for us to part.

To all the “insert christian.ORG of your choice here” that contacted me via phone and mail…thank you for participating, really I mean it. To those who were civil and wanted to engage in debate I truly enjoyed it and I am considering starting an open forum to discuss some of these issues further. To those that just wanted to point out my “ignorance” and spout hate…you folks missed the point entirely. Freedom of speech and open dialog about issues that people differ on is what makes made this country a great place, don’t fall in to “their” trap and close your minds to open discussions.

I do want to take a second to wholeheartedly thank John S. of Lincoln, NE for the package as it really proved my point. John S. decided it would be funny to send me a 5 pound box full of assorted farm dung (shit in laymen terms) with a new crisp bible presented on top of the lovely pile. Here are a few quick thoughts regarding said package:

Look, seriously, if I had children I would have gone through the roof. If I was 13 I would have found your “gag package” amusing but sad to say those days have long passed me.

My wife wanted to call the bomb squad as the package looked nefarious at best but my expert shit detector went off before the package made it in to my humble abode. So, why did I pull the piece? Because I have to think about others in my life and not just about my views. I have to look out for the safety of my family and it was painfully obvious that some “loving Christians” would do me and my family harm if they had the opportunity.

One simple and shocking word, BUSH!

I lived in Texas pre-Bush as governor as well as during his election run in 1999. I can tell you that his attitude towards human life is beyond reprehensible. He is the one that “ramped up” the amount of executions that were taking place in his “home state”, why? Texas has a population of right around twenty four million people yet execute 60 +% of all the people in the country. Is it because Texas has a huge violent crime problem? Because of it’s proximity to the U.S./Mexican border? Or is it because a Fascist regime has been in control for far too long?

Personally I am on the fence regarding executions, my heart tells me that there is a better way but my brain tells me that some people do not deserve to breath air on this earth. What I have a serious issue with is that murderers and rapists are released from prison daily due to overcrowding yet citizens that have been convicted of a “drug crime” remained locked up on our tax dollar. How does this even remotely make sense?

Is it coincidence that these same countries are countries that Bush and the administration are buddying up to? Iran is the exception but there is another reason for that, McBush will save us from that evil, don’t you worry…. zzz …. zzz

Seriously, I can’t go off on a tangent and get off topic as it would do these statistics an injustice. Just remember when you watch the news and see the atrocities take place in the countries listed above that WE ARE NO DIFFERENT. Time to make a change, away from the Fascist path we are heading and towards the democratic society that we ONCE were.
